Services

All of the library's services are free, except for photocopying and the document supply service.

Consulting periodicals

Magazines and journals must be requested directly from the library's staff, following completion of the correct form.

Consulting and printing microfilm

The library has a device for viewing microfilm and free printing on paper. It is located in the audiovisual section and can be used by appointment, made by calling +39 051 2195310.

Consulting the archival collections

In order to access the documents contained in the Renzi archival collection and the McPherson library collection, please visit to the reference desk. Laura Betti's private archive can be consulted by appointment, made by calling +39 051 2195302. The Aristarco collection can be consulted by appointment, made by calling +39 051 2195300.

Research assistance

The librarians are available to help users with their catalogue searches. Online or in the library, the reference staff can suggest the most relevant research tools or help consult indices and databases.

On-line consultation

We will respond to requests for information and bibliographic advice sent via e-mail, but for complicated searches we advise that you come into the library in person. The electronic reference service "Ask the librarian" guarantees a reply within three working days.

Document supply

The document supply service provides users with copies of documents present in the library's collections, in respect of current copyright laws. A written request must be made via e-mail (CinetecaBiblioteca@comune.bologna.it) or via fax (+39 051 2194847).
