Preserving for Research and Rediscovery

The Chaplin Project holds a central place among the Cineteca's activities, and the important role it plays is clear from its various directions. The project is not limited to just preserving the precious paper legacy left by the filmmaker. It also wants to encourage and nourish the ongoing task of Chaplin research, creating the right conditions for a continuous interaction between students, academics and film lovers.

Opening Up New Perspectives

With this aim the archive's documents have been used in a series of publications taking an in-depth look at original aspects of the artist from all perspectives: from the birth of an idea to its realization, passing through the production phases of a film up to its release in the cinema and closely linking the films to their historic, political and personal background.
