Films

  • A representative selection of silent films, thanks to a long-standing collaboration with the Festival del Cinema Ritrovato, supplemented by restorations from the Cineteca and the Immagine Ritrovata workshop.

  • An extensive collection of classic and contemporary documentaries, the most recent thanks to the Doc/it Associazione Documentaristi Italiani (Doc/it association of Italian documentary-makers) and the Human Rights festival.

  • A wide-ranging and up-to-date selection of Italian, American and French films from the 1930s to the present day.

  • The Pasolini-Betti collection: the complete works of Pier Paolo Pasolini, plus documentaries and interviews with and about the director.

  • A carefully chosen selection of French films from the silent era to nouvelle vague (Sandro Toni Donation).

  • A selection of American films from the 1960s and 70s, from a donation by director Martin Scorsese and some of his collaborators.

  • A variety of films made of comic plays from the 1990s (Dadaumpa Collection).

  • A broad collection of “youth cinema”, primarily short films from Italy and elsewhere presented during festivals held in Bologna (Officinema, Festival Scuole Europee di cinema, Visioni italiane, Slow Food on Film, Human Rights, etc.)

  • A judicious assortment of the best films shown in the Cineteca cinemas (Lumière collection).

Soundtracks

The main collection includes 2,500 vinyl records of film soundtracks (33, 45 and 78 rpm) ranging from the 1930s to the 80s. Selected soundtracks have been transferred to digital formats and are available to the public for listening. Additionally there are about 200 recordings on vinyl of readings by actors.
