Pier Paolo Pasolini - Research centre and archive
Documenting a Return Home
Since 2003, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s intellectual and artistic output, plus the vast documentation that has gathered around him and his works, has found a permanent home in the city of his birth. The Bologna Cineteca’s library now houses more than 1,200 volumes on Pasolini’s work, together with a sizeable photo library and collections of magazines, press cuttings, dissertations, audiovisual material, audio cassettes of radio programmes and recordings of conferences, debates and speeches.
The Story of the Pier Paolo Pasolini Archive
A large proportion of the material was preserved for a long time thanks to Laura Betti, actress and founder of the Associazione Fondo Pier Paolo Pasolini di Roma (Pier Paolo Pasolini Association of Rome), who passed away in summer 2004. At the end of 2003 it was decided to donate the entire archive to the City of Bologna, and the construction of the Pier Paolo Pasolini Research Centre followed this decision. This is the permanent site for a cultural depositary which now includes the “Betti Donation” of personal objects and documents belonging to the actress, thanks to the wishes of Sergio Trombetti, Laura Betti’s brother.
