The responsibility of narrating cinema

No longer just a location for study, archiving and screening, since 2008 the Bologna Cineteca has also become a publishing brand. Following decades of experience in promoting an extensive series of publications about film, it was decided to take on responsibility for the vast range of publishing and editorial production ourselves, guaranteeing continuity for the grand narrative of cinema that runs alongside all the Cineteca’s activities.

Accompanying and exploring the vision

The sphere of publications encompasses a broad range, from the monthly Cineteca leaflets (circulation 25,000), which provide information on the Cinema Lumière programme and all of the Cineteca’s initiatives, to special volumes, monographs or historical works that offer in-depth exploration of a specific segment of cinema’s past or present through original contributions, previously unpublished material and translations.

From books to DVDs

With the launch of our own collection of DVDs our range of publications has finally become fully multimedia, providing a direct way to broaden the horizons of cinematic experience through both reading and viewing. Standards of quality and research remain high throughout, meaning our output can both satisfy the interests of the academic community and also appeal to the cinephile pleasures of a wider public.
